uGO Flamedisk (ethanol BBQ fuel)
Just a heads up: the stores I work at got these in (uGO Flamedisks) a few weeks back.
It's a wafer-type thing in a foil pan saturated with ethanol. (I had even joked with my co-workers that this was the reason we needed to spend billions of dollars on ethanol subsidies--so that we could all run our BBQ grills on ethanol) You peel the top open, put it in a charcoal BBQ grill and burn it for fuel. It's supposed to burn for over an hour. http://www.flamedisk.com/ There's a couple videos on Youtube that say that the thing does burn as long as it claims,,,, but,,,, I was walking through the store today and saw that the remaining ones were dumped in the bargain bin. They were hand-marked with the writing "exp XXXXXX", where XXXXXX was an upcoming date. Apparently these things have expiration dates. The only reason stuff gets marked like that is if it's about to expire. I didn't have time to take a close look at the packages to see if it was stamped on the individual boxes, but I will when I go back in again just to be certain. -end- |
Re: uGO Flamedisk (ethanol BBQ fuel)
The only way such a thing could expire is if it wasn't completely sealed and the alcohol evaporated.

"GREAT FLAVOR", Smoker plate creates true-flame grilled taste.
I wonder what CiCom chemical they use to create that? |

10 How long can I store a FlameDisk before I use it?
We have developed the FlameDisk packaging to maintain the integrity of the fuel for at least two years. Please store the FlameDisk away from heat, flame and sparks. |
